What is Shastra Pratibha Contest (SPC)?

Shastra Pratibha Contest (SPC) is a national science talent search contest organised for the students studying in UAE guided by VIBHA (Vijnana Bharti ~ https://vijnanabharati.org) & Vigyan Prasar ( https://vigyanprasar.gov.in ), an autonomous body under Department of Science & Technology, GOI and in collaboration with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) & National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), an institution under the Ministry of Education.

Objectives

To acquaint students with India's rich contributions to the world of science & technology in a traditional & modern format.
To popularize science among students studying in grade V to XII under various educational curriculums.
To identify the bright students through a well-crafted contest & nurture them to pursue career in pure sciences.
To organise field trips to the renowned R&D institutions of India for the Shastra Pratibhas & create conducive platform to interact in person with the renowned scientists, technocrats & academicians.

What are the three categories of the SPC’23? -

SUB-JUNIOR: Grade V to VII
JUNIOR: Grade VIII to X
SENIOR: Grade XI- XII

How many levels of competition are there in the contest?

ELEMENTARY (Participants are eligible for Appreciation certificate)
INTERMEDIATE (Participants are eligible for Excellence certificate)
ADVANCE (Participants are eligible for Meritorious certificate except top two students of each grade)
SHASTRA PRATIBHA (Top two student of each grade, total sixteen students from UAE, will be declared as Shastra Pratibhas)

Who can participate in the contest?

Students of grade V to XII studying in UAE following CBSE/ ICSE/ any Indian state curriculum having valid Emirates Identity number.

What’s the syllabus of the contest?

Syllabus is divided into two portions: -

Curriculum followed in the school at the respective grade
Study material prescribed by SIF consisting of the followings: -
- Life story of Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman
- Indian Freedom Struggle & Science
Study material can be downloaded by logging into the dashboard using Username (EID) & Password.

Structure of the contest: -

Elementary & Intermediate levels, the first two levels of the contest, will be conducted through a home based MCQ type online examination via Safe Exam browser.
3^rd level Advance contest will be off-line viva voce type contest of which details will be made available around at appropriate time.
Mock test will be arranged before 1^st level of contest for a specific period.

How much is fee for the contest?

Students who are selected to Intermediate 2^nd level of contest must pay one-time non-refundable fee of 25/- AED.
Elementary 1^st level of contest is free for all the students. .
Fee can be paid using debit / credit card through the payment gateway within stipulated time.

How to register for the contest?

To register click https://www.sifuae.com/spc. Fill up the form as per instructions. Upon successful registration confirmation email will be received with username & password for log-in to dashboard.

What are the accolades: -

Sixteen Shastra Pratibhas will be felicitated by presenting a medal, memento & a certificate & are entitled for a SIF sponsored field visit to R&D institution subject to normal unrestricted travel conditions in place.
Meritorious students (other than above sixteen SPs who appeared for 3^rd level) will be awarded a certificate & a memento.
Students qualified to Intermediate 2^nd level will receive Excellence e-certificate to be downloaded from dashboard.
Students appearing for Elementary 1^st level will receive Appreciation e-certificate to be downloaded from dashboard.
